Where to Stay in Puerto Vallarta
For optimal language acquisition, your Spanish school and Teach Me Mexico encourage you to “go native” by staying with a local Mexican family. However, you’re most likely on vacation and boy, Puerto Vallarta sure does have some lovely lodging options -- everything from a shared hostel room to an all-inclusive resort. Browse the tabs below to see some of the choices.
Living with a Mexican host family immerses you fully not only in Spanish but also in Mexico. The schools in Puerto Vallarta know how integral this part of your experience can be and for that reason, only offer homestays directly. (This doesn’t mean you can’t stay where you want, of course! It just means that homestays are the only kind of accommodation that we can set you up with directly through the schools.)
In the house or apartment of real Puerto Vallarta residents, you’ll see first-hand the authentic, typical lifestyle of a Mexican family, who will involve you in their day-to-day activities. Practice your new Spanish with them over meals, during a run to the store or panadería, or at a cousin’s wedding.
Expect your own bedroom, maybe a shared bathroom, a regular change of sheets and towels, and possibly TV and/or internet. Your hosts can also provide some or all of your meals, even if you’re vegetarian or have allergies.
Going to Puerto Vallarta with friends, partner, or family? You can totally share rooms in the same Mexican home to still take advantage of this eye-opening opportunity.
